Blog: Social networking sites
A majority of internet users spend their time using social media platforms. These platforms are created to assist users in interacting socially with others on a global level and to connect with family, friends, and colleagues. The Internet hosts numerous social media platforms that are all intriguing in their own way. Hence, I decided to explore some of the most popular websites in order to give a brief overview of them.
Out of all these social media platforms, I found Facebook to be the most interesting. The reason is that along with being a convenient platform for interacting with others, it has numerous intriguing options such as groups, pages of interest, gaming, etc. The platform is also efficient for marketing and advertisement of businesses. What I admired the most about Facebook is that it allows its users to toggle a lot with privacy settings. The privacy settings of each post or action can be changed. Privacy is an issue on other social media platforms, such as LinkedIn, as users are given limited authority when it comes to privacy settings.
Twitter
Twitter appears to be common amongst politicians, celebrities, and famous figures. The tweets posted have a limited character count of 280. Hence, using twitter means not having to go through lengthy posts, unlike Facebook. It appears to me that Twitter has a more professional and formal vibe as a majority of the trending hashtags are affiliated with politics, current global issues, etc.
LinkedIn
Although LinkedIn is also a social media platform, it serves a unique and different purpose. LinkedIn is majorly used for business purposes and is a social media platform where colleagues can connect.
Instagram
Instagram is known for its engaging video and image content. This feature is widely appreciated by social media stars and digital marketers. The user-friendly platform is more common amongst the youth, unlike Facebook, which is majorly used by adults.
